Unique Ministry of, for, by and with Women

Uniquely Ministering Women

The PURPOSE of United Methodist Women: to know God, to experience freedom through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission.

The only requirement for being a United Methodist Woman is to have the desire to do more.

Do more for Jesus.
Do more with your faith.
Do more with the gifts – spiritual and material – that you have been given.

Our Theme song: “Freely, Freely”
Freely, freely, we have received.
Freely, freely, we give.

Our Guiding verse: Isaiah 54:2 - 3 Enlarge the place of thy tent, And let them stretch forth the curtains Of thine habitations: Spare not, lengthen thy cords, And strengthen thy stake; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand And on the left. . .

Our constant challenge: to stretch who we are in Christ, to not hold back but to use all we have been given to reach out, to bring others into “our tent” – the here and now and eternal kingdom of God.

This past year we have spearheaded, participated in, and/or helped financially support:

  1. Preparing and feeding McNeese Students at the Wesley Foundation.
  2. Day of Caring: Grand Lake Elderly Apartments.
  3. Updated church information brochures.
  4. Special Lenten Young Women’s Sunday School class.
  5. Dressing the Graves on Holy Saturday.
  6. Back to School Supplies.
  7. Baby blankets for ABC Pregnancy Counseling Center, gift bags for visitors/newcomers.
  8. Babysat for children of younger adults to attend “Courageous” together and enjoy fellowship.
  9. Joined with the Louisiana Conference of United Methodist Women to pray daily from Mother’s Day, May 8th through Father’s Day, June 19th for people whose lives have been affected by Domestic Violence.
  10. Operation Christmas Child
  11. Pac - A – Sak (Christmas Holiday Food Baskets)
Meetings are held at the Sweet Lake Church the fourth Saturday of each month at 9:30 am. For more information please contact our President, Anita Isbell, at (337) 439-1507.
